2015 Tennessee Youth Risk Behavior Survey

On this page you will find a copy of the questions that will be asked on the 2015 Tennessee Youth Risk Behavior Survey. This survey is conducted every year by the Center for Disease Control for students in middle through high schools around the country.  This process yields information about youth behavior trends and issues of importance for our system and region. We can use the YRBS data when we consider our health goals for the system and/or for applying for grants.  Most importantly, participation—when selected—is a state mandated requirement.

Across the state of Tennessee, participation in the YRBS is on a “lottery-type” selection process within each region.  Alcoa High School hit the “lottery” this year and was selected to participate (along with Maryville High School for Blount County in the East Region). In addition to the random selection of high schools, there is ALSO a random selection of 2
nd period classrooms….so not all students will be taking the survey.

While we are mandated to give this assessment this year, it should give us important data as we plan programs for your child.
