Y-Teens

SPONSORS: Lisa Williamson and Gloria Miller
Available to: 7th and 8th grade girls
Season: Year Round
Y-Teens is a service organization, similar to Jay Teens. One of the benefits of being in Y-Teens is that it gives girls a chance to bond and talk about issues specific to being a girl. They select a community service activity and attend several Y-Teen events. One of the culminating events of the year events will be a Y-Teen dance that is “dressy”. Meetings are every other Wednesday morning from 7:40 until 8:05 and every other Friday from 3:00 to 4:00.

The 08-09 Y-Teen group is going strong! We are having a great time bonding with each other during our meetings. Mrs. Williamson and Mrs. Miller state that this is one of the best groups they have ever had. On Thursday, some of the Y-Teen girls will be attending the Sister-to-Sister Summit held at Preservation Plaza in downtown Maryville. During this event, girls from all of the surrounding schools will attend to share and discuss issues that affect their daily lives.
After the Sister-to-Sister Summit, the Y-Teens will start a coloring book drive to help support Toys for Tots in Blount County. The girls have also been selling coupon books as a fundraiser. If you have family or friends who would still like a coupon book, please contact Mrs. Williamson at the middle school.
Finally, the officers for this years group are:
Derenisha Sutton - President
Jenna Rogers - Vice President
Bonnie Douglas - Treasurer and Fund Raising Chair
Shenita Minor - Secretary
Cha'dae Henry - Prayer and Worship leader
Gloria Miller and Lisa Williamson are the sponsors for this club.
