Alcoa City Schools' Pre-K Programs

Alcoa City Schools currently has four (4) pre-K programs serving at-risk 4 year olds and 3-4 year olds identified for special education services. All of our programs are located at Alcoa Elementary School- Pod 1. The early childhood programs provide quality early childhood education services in accordance with the Tennessee Early Childhood Education Plan as adopted by the State Board of Education and stated in T.C.A. Section 49-6-101.

Each program provides opportunities for students to develop school readiness skills that include social and emotional development, language development, physical development, and early literacy skills. Academics are a primary focus with math and science activities as well as science, social studies and creative arts activities that prepare students for entering Kindergarten.

All of Alcoa’s Pre-K teachers are appropriately certified and meet the qualifications as Highly Qualified according to the NCLB guidelines.
