DISCIPLINE

One of the most important lessons education should teach is discipline. While it does not appear in the curriculum as a subject, it underlies the whole educational structure. Discipline helps one to develop self-control, the basis for maturity and sound relationships with others. Discipline is an absolute necessity for any organized group to operate successfully. At Alcoa Elementary we emphasize the development of self-discipline and self-direction toward individual development,
which produces socially desirable results. When a student chooses to disregard school policies, one or more of the following actions will be taken:
* 1. Guidance and counseling
* 2. Parental conferences
* 3. Administrative measures
* 4. Removal from environment

On each occasion a student is referred to the office for administrative discipline, a written communication will come home with the student for a parental signature. It must be returned to the issuing administrator the following morning prior to entering class. With each additional referral, the disciplinary measures will become more severe. Please refer to the following page for the Alcoa Elementary Disciplinary Policy.
