AI Policy

Alcoa City Schools may utilize artificial intelligence (AI) programs as permitted by law. Only approved AI programs can be used in instruction or student work. The district will oversee AI program implementation, ensuring compliance with district, state, and federal regulations.

Staff and students may use approved AI programs. Staff must disclose AI use when necessary and protect sensitive information. AI outputs should be verified and not claimed as original work.

Teachers may incorporate approved AI programs into instruction, providing students with guidance on responsible use. Students must understand AI's appropriate use, accuracy limitations, and academic integrity expectations. The district will inform parents about AI use and maintain a public list of approved programs. Annual reports on policy enforcement will be submitted to the district's governing body and state education agency.
