These tests assess student achievement on Tennessee learning standards for these high school courses: English I, and II, Algebra I and II, Geometry, and Biology.

Fall Block:

November 29 - December 16, 2021

 

Detailed score reports will be shared with schools and sent to families in fall 2022.

Spring Block/Spring Traditional:

April 18 - May 6, 2022 (paper-based)

April 18 - May 20, 2022 (computer-based)

These tests assess student achievement on grade- level Tennessee learning standards in English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies (no Social Studies assessed in grades 3-5 this year)

TCAP
Alt Grades 3-11

(MSAA in ELA and Math & Alt in Science/Social Studies)

This assessment measures English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies performance and is designed for students with significant intellectual disabilities which prevent them from accessing standard achievement tests.

March 14 - April 29, 2022 (tentative)

 

The state will release individual student reports with details of performance. These will be shared with schools and sent to families in fall 2022.

College-Ready Testing for Juniors

(Alcoa City Schools uses ACT for this test)

 State:
T.C.A. § 49-6- 6001(b)

ACT is a national college readiness exam that measures high school achievement and is used in the college admissions process. Students are tested in the spring of their junior year and have an opportunity to retake in the fall of senior year.

NAEP

The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) is the largest nationally representative and continuing assessment of what America's students know and can do in various subject areas.

ACCESS for EL’s
Grades K-12

This assessment measures proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening for students receiving English learner supports

February 14 - March 26, 2022 (tentative)

 

The state will release individual student reports to district staff for distribution to schools and parents.

ACCESS Placement Tests
(W-APT)

Federal:
Every Student Succeeds Act
(ESSA) of 2015

W-APT is given to students who speak a language other than English at home in order to determine the English language support they need at school.

Within 30 days of enrollment

 

Results will be communicated to parents by school staff.

Pre-K & K Growth Portfolio
PreK-K

State:
T.C.A. §§ 49-6-103 - 49-6-110

Required for schools with a Voluntary Pre-K (VPK) program, these student growth portfolios allow teachers to demonstrate students' progress toward mastery of ELA and math standards. 

Throughout the year, beginning Oct 1

 

Results will be communicated to parents by school staff.

Optional Assessments

Kindergarten Entry Inventory (KEI)

Requirement for recipients of the Preschool Development Grant (PDG). 

KEI provides a standards-aligned profile of each student's skills, knowledge, and competencies related to kindergarten readiness as they enter kindergarten in Tennessee.

ACT Senior Retake 

 

ACT is a national college readiness exam that measures high school achievement and is used in the college admissions process. This retake is optional and free for those students who took the ACT as juniors

Advanced Placement Exams
Grades 9-12

 

These exams are administered in the spring at the conclusion of each AP course. The course may count for college credit at participating universities, depending on the student score. Students are required to pre-register.

Statewide Dual Credit Exams and Local Dual Credit Exams
Grades 9-12

 

These exams are administered in the spring at the conclusion of each statewide dual or local dual credit course. The course will count for college credit at participating universities if a student scores a passing score on the exam.
