Description: After reading this week’s mentor text, Rosie Revere, Engineer, students will complete a two-part response graphic organizer in their reading notebooks. First, students will identify two specific character traits that describe Rosie and provide evidence from the story to support their choices. Second, students will write a 2–3 sentence paragraph summarizing the main idea and lesson of the story using proper sentence mechanics (capitalization, punctuation, and complete thoughts).

Description: Students will apply their understanding of three-digit numbers and base-ten blocks. The activity consists of three sections: converting visual base-ten block diagrams into standard expanded form (e.g., 3 hundreds, 4 tens, 2 ones = $300 + 40 + 2 = 342$), skip-counting forward and backward by 10s and 100s starting from a three-digit number, and solving two real-world word problems using place-value strategies.

Description: Following a hands-on classroom exploration station, students will observe four sample objects (a wooden block, colored water, a sponge, and cooking oil) and record their physical properties on a guided lab chart. Students will test each item to determine whether it maintains its own shape or takes the shape of its container, classifying each as a solid or liquid. Finally, students will write a brief reflection explaining how they determined whether the sponge was a solid or liquid based on its observable properties.
