About me
The Alcoa community and its schools were an important part of my education, and now I am fortunate enough to serve as an ACS educator and leader. As a student, I attended Alcoa from 3rd through 8th grade before moving to the county. After graduating from William Blount High School and The University of Tennessee, I returned to Alcoa City Schools in 1997 to teach. I taught third, fourth, and fifth grades for 10 years at Alcoa Elementary School before stepping into the role of curriculum/testing coordinator and then assistant principal for AES. In 2015, our incredible 3rd-5th grade staff and faculty transitioned to the former middle school building and opened Alcoa Intermediate School, where I served as the principal from 2015-2021. Since 2021, I have served as the Director of K-5 Education for Alcoa City Schools.

Responsibilities
I have the privilege of supporting and collaborating with our administrative teams in Alcoa City Schools. My primary focus is on promoting cohesion and alignment within K-5 education and facilitating smooth student transitions to grades 6-12. My responsibilities are primarily centered around our district’s curriculum, intervention programs, and the effective use of formative assessments. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Curriculum decisions, purchase/program management, implementation support
  • Vertical alignment of all curriculum and coordination with grades 6-12, design of district professional development
  • Platform support for core curricula, intervention programs, and benchmarking programs (Amplify, Savvas, aimswebPlus, MasteryConnect, Wilson, Bridges intervention, Zearn) 
  • Master scheduling
  • Cohort and individual student data tracking for K-5
  • K-5 Intervention programming, K-8 Intervention benchmarking and documentation (SIPAD) tracking
  • TN-URS benchmarking and compliance in grades K-3
  • Literacy Success Act state reporting, FLSP, 3rd/4th grades promotion pathway data tracking
  • District contact for:
    •  Licensure, TNCompass management
    • EPPs, intern placement
    • ILP-Ds 
    • Title I compliance
    • Professional development planning
    • Summer Learning Camps 
    • One Book Blitz 
    • Textbook adoptions
