About Technology Training
All Alcoa City Schools employees are invited to attend our new Fall Technology Training classes! Professional development credit hours will be granted to all teachers who attend, along with a certificate of training completion. As an added bonus, each in-person participant will be entered into a drawing for a cool tech gadget at the end of the year. The more sessions you attend, the greater your chance of winning!
Sessions may be joined via Google Meet if you cannot attend in person. Sessions will also be recorded and made available through our Alcoa Connects Google Classroom Page. Tech training will be held at the Educator Support Center in the board room. Sessions will begin promptly at 3:45 and will last approximately 45 to 60 minutes.

🖥 Make Great Presentations with Google Slides

Date: August 12

In this workshop, users will learn how to use Google Slides the right way. We will teach you how to embed videos, charts from Google Sheets, and graphics. Learn how to create attractive presentations with a host of powerful tools and features. As an added bonus, we will also demonstrate how to use the built-in audience engagement tools to participate in real-time feedback with your viewing audiences.


🖥 How to Take Control of Your Gmail Inbox

Date: September 2

Gain control of your inbox with Gmail's powerful sorting and message managing tools. Learn how to tidy things up by creating new mail workflows. We'll show you how to schedule send email, set away messages, and utilize read receipts as well as a host of other useful tips. When you are done with this training session, you will be a Gmail star!


🖥 Replacing Microsoft Word with Google Docs

Date: September 23

If you’ve used Microsoft Word and are hesitant about going ALL IN with Google, this is the right workshop for you! Tips covered during this session will leave you wondering why it took so long to jump aboard the Google Docs Train. Among a host of topics covered, we will focus on formatting, how to work with graphic elements, and provide an overview of Doc's latest features!

Date: October 14

Keep track of your schedule with Google Calendar & Tasks. This session will cover both mobile and desktop versions of Calendar & Tasks and will leave you equipped and empowered to stay on top and in control of your busy day-to-day work schedule.



🖥 How to Create Awesome Teacher Sites with Edlio

Date: November 4

In this workshop, we will take a deep dive into your Edlio Teacher websites. Learn how to change layouts, format content, add media elements, blogs, and even embeddable code. You'll be amazed at how easy it is! If you are wanting to kick your web pages up a notch, this is the session for you!


🖥 How to Create Self-Grading Quizzes with Google Forms

Date: December 9

You have likely used Google Forms to collect form data. But did you know that Forms also makes self-grading quizzes, that with just a couple of clicks, can be imported directly into your Skyward grade book? Come to this workshop and see how it all works!


🖥 Get Creative with Canva

Date: December 16

There isn't much Canva can't do. Whether it's creating a printable program, designing web graphics, or putting together a presentation, Canva has all the tools to empower you to create whatever your heart desires. In this workshop, we will show you how to utilize hundreds of educational templates and gain access to the Pro version free of charge. This will be a fun session for anyone who likes to create!
